About Twin City
Second "Business of the Year" Award

BALTIMORE-Francis George couldn't help but laugh when his former company was awarded Business of the Year for the second time.
George, the former owner, accepted the award on behalf of his son and current owner, Bob, who was unable to attend the Baltimore Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet on Saturday night.
"I had 36 years in this business and I didn't get any award, but (my Son) has won it twice," George joked after receiving the award to a crowd of about 100 people.
Twin City Frozen Foods has been in operation for more than 65 years in Baltimore.
Chamber of Commerce President Jean G. Farmer said Twin City was recognized as business of the year because of its commitment to helping other companies in the village.
"They work and network with other businesses in Baltimore," Farmer said. "They've embraced the 'Buy Baltimore' campaign (of shopping at local businesses)."
She said Twin City Frozen Foods managed to increase its sales by about 10% last year in a competitive industry and amid a difficult economy.
The Business of the Year was one of four awards presented at the annual dinner. The Chamber of Commerce gave the Leadership Award, President's Award, and Community Service Award.
Baltimore Police Chief Mike Tussey was the recipient of the Leadership Award.
"Thank you to everyone for this. It's nice to know although I receive this, it's my guys that are out there that deserve it," Tussey said while accepting the award.
"They are out there tonight and they make the world go round."
The President's Award was given to Village of Baltimore Administrator Marsha Hall for her work as a liaison between the business community and local government.
"When I came here a little over six years ago, it's not always easy coming to some place new, but you've made me feel home," Hall said to the crowd.
The Community service Award was given to Christa Grover for her various philanthropic work including helping with a Christmas drive put on by the Basil Joint Fire Department.
At the end of the event, Bob Badgely was introduced as the new president of the chamber of commerce.
At Liberty Union High School , Francie played on the football team and also enjoyed playing the tuba in the band. After graduating in 1946, he ran a trucking business from 1946 to 1956. On August 20, 1950, he married JoAnn Evans. In 1952 he purchased Twin City Frozen Foods from his father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Kathleen Evans. Francie took great pride in his business and he was a dedicted member of the Ohio Association of Meat Processors for over 25 years. After retiring in 1988, he sold the business to his son, Bob, and he is pleased that Bob continues the family tradition.

The 1950's and 1960 's kept Francie very busy! During that time, he belonged to the Baltimore Civic Club where he served as the chairman of the Labor Day parade He was a member of the Basil emergency squad and later was the chief of the Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department. Francie was on the board for the Liberty Union Athletic Boosters and later sat on the school board.

2009 Baltimore Festival Parade

Francis Edward George is extremely proud to be the Grand Marshall of the 2009 Baltimore Festival Parade. Francie was born in Baltimore on August 8, 1928 to Walter and Ida (Roshon) George. Which makes parade day his 81st birthday! Growing up, Francie enjoyed spending time with his boyhood friends Tommy and Dick Weidner, Eddie and Leon Taylor and "Captain" Tuffy Clum. Feared by many and known to all as "The Rome Side Rangers", these amigos would don their cowboy hats and "pistolas" and spend many summer days protecting their beloved Rome Side.
